LKNSBN Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
What is the Lake Norman Small Business Network (LKNSBN)?
The LKNSBN is the only free and inclusive regional networking group the Charlotte/ Lake Norman Region of North Carolina. We have 3500 small businesses and solopreneurs represented on our main Facebook group page. We offer a number of opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to connect and interact with no long-term commitments, fees, obligations, or formal rules. The LKNSBN is free! Success is a team sport. We have a wide variety of businesses that include: financial analysts, HVAC companies, business coaches, realtors, web designers, banks, restaurant owners, and photographers who all share their time, stories and contacts.
All members can have their business card on our website after they have demonstrated a willingness to attend meetings for at least two consecutive Weekly Wednesday’s to show that they are interested in being part of the group on a regular basis. After attending two meetings, please give a business card to Jim Vogel, Douglas Marion, Regis Murphy, Tara Attwood, or Lynn Alberts, we will make sure your information gets added.
Where does the LKNSBN meet?
The LKNSBN has “Weekly Wednesday” meetings in East Cornelius at Old Town Public House (OTPH), 21314 Catawba Avenue at 9:00 AM. Every Wednesday, up to 90 professionals show up for coffee, networking and camaraderie, all in an eclectic informal old town setting. On Wednesday mornings each attendee gets a 20 second intro/ spotlight in front of the group. Simply tell us who you are, what you do, and where you are located. We do not sell in our meetings, we use the time to learn about and connect with each other in the transparent efforts to build relationships. On the last Wednesday of each month, the format is ‘open’ networking with only new member introductions and announcements. Everyone can casually mingle and talk among themselves from 7 a.m. when the doors open at OTPH.
The last Thursday of each month, we gather at D9 Brewing Company in Cornelius at 5:30 PM. D9 is located at 11138 Treynorth Drive, Suite C, just off NC 115. There is member/ sponsor for this event, who provides hors d’oeuvres, and each sponsor gets five minutes to share their business story. Attendance at this evening event is always voluntary, and we usually average 50 professionals each Final Thursday.
First Friday meetings are at Bin 110 at 5:30 PM. The address is 19712 One Norman Boulevard, Suite 110, Cornelius. It is a twin sponsored event (two members) and we typically use a few minutes of this time to discuss our LKNSBN community projects and charitable causes. Our LKNSBN sponsored quarterly blood drive is one of our passions. Please mingle and have fun. The two sponsors share the cost of hors d’oeuvres and each one shares the story of their business. We average 40 professionals at this event.
How does the LKNSBN help grow and promote local businesses?
We have two highly engaging Facebook shopping/ advertising pages.
Shop Lake Norman
Shop Catawba Avenue
On these sites, you can promote your business, a special sale or event. Sell until your heart’s content on these two sites.
Otherwise, repeated attendance at our events, especially our Weekly Wednesday meetings, will give members an opportunity to become a KLT (Know, Like, Trust) Professional, and within approximately 90-120 days you will begin to hear people mentioning you and your business to others, and so it begins. It is all about our large referral network.
LKNSBN Main Facebook Page
This main page is where members post to give shout outs to other members who have been helpful or done something great. Members can share a one-day free event or a charitable event on the page as well. The secret sauce of the LKNSBN is the building of referral and partnering networks. It begins with relationships. We have several FB Admins on our main Facebook page who consistently monitor the page, and we remove any post that is selling or promoting a business, as this specific page is not for that purpose.
Joining is easy. It’s free and inclusive. First join the Facebook pages, then come to our meetings. It is that simple. Everyone is welcome. Small business owners and professionals, entrepreneurs, and solo professionals integrate into our group with great success.
Now in our 4th year, the LKNSBN is the heart of small business across the Lake!
